Great question! We think that Joseph had already passed away before Jesus began His ministry. We only hear of Joseph when Jesus is a child, and then we hear of Mary when He is an adult. We know and trust that Jesus loved His foster father so very much, and
so He would have probably mentioned Him if he were alive. At the Cross, Jesus says to the Apostle John “Behold your mother” and to Mary, “Woman, behold your son!” Even though this is also part of Mary beingour mother [as we’re a part of the Church] Joseph wasn’t there when His Beloved foster-son died.
