A Grade 8 student asks: What is the ‘burning bush’ all about?

What an excellent question!  This is exactly what I mean about never being afraid to ask these questions.  In fact, in God’s revelation, fire has always had an important symbolic meaning.  The Holy Spirit descends like tongues of fire at Pentecost.  The burning bush is a sign of God’s miraculous energy, His Sacred and Divine light, it can also be the sign of illumination as well as I’m sure many other things.  Now this is a sign of the beginning of Moses’ encounter with God Almighty, and so that this happens through a bush that burns but is not consumed by the fire is important.  We must try to remember God’s energy which is given to us to spread the faith, His sacred and divine light which is to hear, know and tell others about the Gospels and how we are seeking to be illuminated for that purpose.  Now that’s just the tip of the iceberg as far as answers go; there is much more we could realize this burning bush is meant for.  My friends, you now, are the burning bush as you share your special and beautiful relationship with God as Christians in how you live the way Jesus wants you to do.
